If you're planning a destination wedding in Punta Cana, you already know the hardest part isn't saying yes — it's choosing where.
We're Joel and Ana, and we've spent years photographing and filming weddings at almost every major venue in Punta Cana, Cap Cana and Santo Domingo. We've seen what works, what doesn't, and which venues make couples genuinely happy on their wedding day.
This is not a generic list pulled from a travel blog. This is what we've actually seen firsthand, couple after couple, year after year.
Kukua Beach Club — Best for couples who want something intimate and non-resort
If there's one venue that consistently makes couples emotional the moment they arrive, it's Kukua. It's a private beach club — not a hotel — which means your wedding feels like yours and yours alone. No other events happening that weekend, no strangers walking through your ceremony, no sharing the space with anyone.
Everything happens in one place — your getting ready, your ceremony, your cocktail hour, and your reception — all within the same stunning property right on the beach. It's the kind of seamless flow that makes the day feel effortless for you and your guests.
The venue coordinators at Kukua are genuinely some of the best we've worked with. They are incredibly organized, detail-oriented, and they know how to keep a wedding day running exactly on schedule without ever making you feel rushed.
Golden hour here is absolutely stunning — the light wraps around the whole property in a way that makes every photo and film feel effortless. And one more thing couples love: Kukua does not charge an outside vendor fee for photographers and videographers. That's a rare and wonderful thing in Punta Cana.
Dreams Cap Cana — Best for couples who want a luxury all-inclusive experience
Dreams Cap Cana is one of the most popular wedding venues in the Cap Cana area — and for good reason. The resort is stunning, the wedding coordination team is experienced, and the views from the ceremony spaces are hard to beat.
What we love about filming here: the property has multiple backdrops — the beach, the pool terrace, the gardens — which gives us a lot of creative options throughout the day. The light during golden hour on the beach side is especially beautiful.
Majestic Elegance & Majestic Mirage — Best for larger weddings
If your guest list is on the larger side, the Majestic properties are hard to beat. Both resorts have the infrastructure to handle bigger celebrations without anything feeling chaotic or rushed.
Majestic Elegance has a more classic, traditional feel. Majestic Mirage is the newer property with a more modern aesthetic. Both have beautiful beach ceremony setups and experienced wedding coordination teams.
We've filmed at both properties many times, and the thing that stands out is how smoothly the days tend to run. When the venue is well-organized, your photographer and videographer can focus entirely on capturing your story — not solving logistics problems.
Chez Bisutti & Alto Marina by Noah — Best for couples who want something truly unique
If you want a wedding that feels nothing like a hotel ballroom, these two private venues are worth serious consideration.
Chez Bisutti is a beautiful private venue with lush tropical gardens, a pool, and an intimate atmosphere that's hard to find at larger resorts. It's perfect for smaller|medium weddings where every detail matters.
Alto Marina by Noah sits right on the marina in Cap Cana — the combination of the boats, the water, and the architecture creates a setting unlike anything else in the area. We've captured some of our favorite wedding photos here.
Barceló Palace Punta Cana — Best for couples who want a classic beachfront resort Barceló Palace is one of the most recognized resorts in Punta Cana and a consistently popular choice for destination weddings. The property sits right on Bávaro Beach — one of the best stretches of white sand in the entire Caribbean — which makes for stunning ceremony backdrops and beautiful golden hour portraits. The variety the property offers is what we love most about working here. Between the beach, the tropical gardens, and the resort architecture, there are multiple settings for photos that feel completely different from each other. It's a resort that photographs really well in every season. Like most major resorts in Punta Cana, Barceló has an outside vendor policy for photographers and videographers — always ask about this early when planning your team.
Lopesan Costa Bávaro — Best for couples who want a European-style luxury experience Lopesan Costa Bávaro brings a different energy to Punta Cana — it has a more European, design-forward aesthetic that sets it apart from the typical all-inclusive resort feel. The architecture is bold and dramatic, which creates incredible backdrops for editorial-style wedding photos. The resort sits right on Bávaro Beach and has multiple ceremony and reception spaces that work beautifully depending on the size and style of your wedding. We've captured some really stunning images here — especially during golden hour when the light hits the resort's white architecture. It's a venue that tends to attract couples who care about aesthetics and want their wedding photos to look a little different from everyone else's. If that sounds like you, Lopesan is worth a serious look.
Pearl Beach Club — Best for couples who want luxury, exclusivity and a wow factor Pearl Beach Club has quickly become one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Punta Cana — and once you see it, you understand why. The venue sits on one of the most pristine stretches of beach in the entire Dominican Republic, with crystal clear turquoise water that honestly looks unreal in photos and films. What makes Pearl Beach so special for weddings is the combination of exclusivity and beauty. Like Kukua, it's a private beach club — not a hotel — which means your wedding is the only event happening that day. The space is entirely yours, from the getting ready through the last dance of the night. The aesthetic here is pure luxury — white cabanas, tropical landscaping, and that jaw-dropping beach backdrop that makes every single frame look like a magazine editorial. We always look forward to filming and photographing here because the venue does so much of the visual work for us.
A few things we always tell couples when choosing a venue
No matter which venue you choose, here are a few things we always recommend asking before signing:
Does the venue charge an outside vendor fee for photographers and videographers? Almost every resort in Punta Cana does. Ask early so it's not a surprise.
What time does the venue allow outside vendors to arrive? This affects your entire wedding day timeline.
Is there a backup plan if it rains? Punta Cana has a rainy season — make sure your venue has a covered option.
We've worked at every venue on this list and many more and we'd love to help you figure out which one is the right fit for your day. If you're still deciding, feel free to reach out — we're happy to share what we've seen work best for different types of couples and celebrations.
After all, we're based right here in Punta Cana. This is our home, and your wedding day is something we take personally.
